Routine Maintenance or Unknown Incident? A Closer Look at the Stack Explosion

Late last night, a loud explosion shook the Stacks, the iconic flower-shaped structures essential to Forager City’s cargo operations. According to an official statement from the RDCA, the incident was caused by a “minor technical issue” in one of the auxiliary processing units. They assured the public that “all systems are back online, and there is no cause for alarm.”

Despite these reassurances, the event has raised eyebrows. Eyewitnesses from nearby districts described a blinding flash of light followed by a plume of smoke. A nearby resident reported seeing “someone falling from the stack after the explosion.” The RDCA quickly dismissed these claims, emphasizing that cargo systems were operating without interruption at the time.

Adding to the uncertainty is an increase in Keeper patrols across the city. The RDCA has attributed this heightened security to “routine system checks,” unrelated to the explosion. Still, the timing has left many citizens uneasy.

“It’s strange,” said one anonymous source. “They say it’s routine, but why so many Keepers in places they normally avoid? It feels like they’re not telling us something.”

Typically confined to high-traffic industrial zones, the Keepers rarely venture into quieter outer sectors. Their sudden presence there has not gone unnoticed, prompting speculation about the true nature of last week’s events.

A City Built on Trust

Forager City thrives on the efficiency and precision of its systems—systems we trust without question. The Stacks are a symbol of that trust, their petals turning tirelessly to ensure every industry, every process, runs without flaw. But events like last night’s explosion serve as a stark reminder: even the most perfect systems can falter.

The RDCA’s swift response, while reassuring to some, leaves little room for deeper inquiry. Was this truly a technical failure? If so, how did it occur in one of the most meticulously maintained infrastructures in existence? The Stacks have operated flawlessly for centuries, their record untarnished—which is likely why citizens are expressing concern.

Of course, these are just questions—questions easily dismissed in favor of the comfort offered by official explanations. But as the smoke clears over the Stacks, it’s hard to shake the sense that something is being kept from view.

For now, the RDCA assures us that all is well. But in a city of perpetual motion, where the questions are monitored, one can’t help but wonder: what happens when even the answers are manufactured?
